How to clear up a dog’s ear infection?
My dog get’s yeast infections in her ear about once every 3 months. The vet charges an outrageous fee first for the vet visit then for the medicine. Is there a way to treat the infection and cure it without going to the vet that will be safe for my dogs ear? Its gotten so bad I can hear mucus/liquid in her ear. She’s a 4 year old miniature schnauzer. I don’t want to have to blow another $150 at the vet just to have this stuff come back in two months! Help, these vet bills are killing me.
Hi,
With my vet, once they see my dog for a problem-and it then recurs- they will almost always just prescribe the medication over the phone and let me come in and pick it up at the clinic.
Try giving them a call, this may be the case since they did just see your dog two months ago.
Example- I too had a dog who had recurring yeast infections both of his ears and skin (he was a rescue, and was turned in for his skin problems). When he would get a flare up of his ears, I could just call my vet let them know and they would let me come pick up his medication. (In California a vet must see your dog once a year to be able to prescribe meds and renew them.)
If you still have some of the medication left over from last time you can also check some internet sites and see if it is something you can buy without a vet prescription.
Dog Yeast.
