Breastfeeding hurts so bad – how do I get rid of this infection??
I have a 3-week-old who is nursing well but I have thrush/yeast on my nipples and in the milk ducts. I finished my oral prescription (diflucan) and I’m still using the topical ointment and taking acidopholus but the infection is still lingering.
I’m in a lot of pain not just during feedings but in between as well. How do I get rid of this horrible thrush??
My baby is also being treated for thrush.
I am currently using the Dr. Newman’s ointment and cutting down sugar and alcohol. I will add the vinegar rinse and see if that makes a difference.
Look up Dr. Jack Newman’s website (your local LLL or breastfeeding clinic would also be a big help). He has an amazing formula for a cream to treat thrush.
Also, wash all your bras, tops, underwear, sheets, etc in very hot water with vinegar in the rinse. Do a sugar-free diet too (juice and white foods like bread, rice, potatoes too).
