Help! Vaginal itching..not a yeast infection?
Help! At the end of an augmentin regimen that I was on I suddenly felt a little discharge from the rectum. Then it got really itchy all around the area. Then I started getting vaginal discharge and itchy all over…everywhere down there. I tried yeast infection suppositories…symptoms seemed to clear up but then came back. When I then went to the doctor she tested me for yeast and while waiting for the results prescribed a yeast ointment and antihistimine in the meantime. The dr’s nurse called back and said there was no yeast present. But the dr gave no further instructions. No yeast, but she left me with yeast ointment. I am terribly frustrated. I feel like this is a reaction to the augmentin. The only relief i have is if i keep taking this antihistimine every 8 hours. Any suggestions as to what I should do for this itching??? Also…do you think my dr. handled this the right way??
Vaagasil makes an ointment for feminine itching, no purpose in continuing to use a product for yeast when none is present. Take a probiotic 2-3 times a day or eat yogurt that contains “live cultures”. Be sure you are not using any perfumed soaps or products on your genital area, you can use unscented baby wipes or something like that, also make sure you are wearing all cotton panties, no deodorant pads, liners or tampons. When ever you have the opportunity to do so, do not wear panties at all. This seems like some type of irritation more so than an infection and taking antibiotics can often disturb natural vaginal bacteria.
